Courage is contagious
My Colleague, My Inspiration!
He needed immense medical attention to be able to walk. His parents abandoned him and almost tortured him as in Ethiopia, being handicapped is culturally considered a curse of God.
Wude, 36, is Office Assistant with IPE Global Ethiopia. In an age when generally women across the world think of having their own family and social life, Wude is supporting her stepbrother Alazar. Born with a medical condition, 14 year old Alazar is the 7th child of his parents. He needed immense medical attention to be able to walk. His parents abandoned him and almost tortured him as in Ethiopia, being handicapped is culturally considered a curse of God.
Wude decided to take care of this child. She supported Alazar financially and thanks to Wude’s incessant efforts Alazar today not only walks and goes to school but play basketball and swim! Wudy understands that with higher education comes a prospect of better earnings. She wants to continue her education. Although a high school graduate, she realized that quality of her schooling is an impediment in studying further. Hence, she has decided to repeat her school education. She is attending evening classes after work, currently. Courage is contagious, when someone brave takes a stand, spines of others often stiffened (Billy Graham) for team Ethiopia that ‘someone brave’ is you Wudy my sister!
