When I experienced gender parity in the purest form
My Mother, My Inspiration!
Some of my relatives were taking a jibe at my mother for not having a grandson. I was worried that this will get her upset as in our society female child is often seen as a burden whereas a male child is perceived to be the support system of the family.
I have two younger sisters and growing up my mother ensured that all three of us were given equal opportunity to study, participate and express ourselves. I still remember that my mother persuaded my father to allow my younger sister to attend a one month long training abroad all by herself.
The greatest moment of my life was when I experienced gender parity in the most purest and powerful form – when my mother stood for our family and my two beautiful daughters.
Some of my relatives were taking a jibe at my mother for not having a grandson. I was worried that this will get her upset as in our society female child is often seen as a burden whereas a male child is perceived to be the support system of the family. But here stood one of the most progressive lady who shut them up by saying that her grand-daughters are no less than boys and she will give them even more love and care. I was really touched by her words. I was really inspired by her sense of gender equality and the way she has instilled that in her kids and now in my kids.
